Prepare your business plan: Make sure your business plan meets all ENISA's criteria. Read about them below.

How to apply entrepreneur visa in Spain:

From Spain
You can enter Spain legally on any visa/document, including tourist Schengen and apply at once for a three-year residence permit. Then it can be renewed for 2 more years. After 5 years in legal status you can request for a permanent residence in Spain.

Consular submission for a visa has certain difficulties and even not possible in most countries. It is better to book a consultation before you start.

Finances

per main applicant: 34.188€ (200% of Spanish minimum wage (SMI) per year. For 2026 SMI per month is 1.221€. But mention that there are 14 payments in Spain)
per second family member: 12.820€ (75% SMI)
per third and following — 4.274€ (25% SMI)
for a family of 3 you need to prove that you have a minimum savings of 51.282€‍

Savings must be verified with a bank statement from any bank account. The entire amount must be in the main applicant's account.

By the way, if you're a student or have recently got DN residence you can modify it to Startup and get 24% tax fix for your active income in Spain. To get a special regime co-called "Beckham Law" it's necessary not to be a tax resident of Spain for the last 5 years.

✍ General terms

Jurado - translation made by a specially designated sworn translator. Some documents from the list should be translated by a jurado translator (you will see a letter J near the name of such document). The list of certified jurado translators can be found here. Apart from that there are many intermediaries, who work with several translators at once. We prepare for you a special list of trusted intermediaries.
ENISA - is a state company that is managed by the General Direction of Industry and Small and Medium Enterprises. It reviews and makes decisions on business plans.
Backham Law - a special tax regime that allows foreigners moving to Spain to pay a flat tax rate of 24% only on income (up to €600,000 per year) they receive in Spain, instead of progressive tax on worldwide income.‍
Tasa - state fee for different procedures. In order to apply for Digital Nomad, you pay €73,26 for tasa No 790-038. It can be generated here, however you will need a digital signature. You can text us and we will help! You can pay tasa almost in every bank before 11 am or in ATM.‍
Cita - this word in Spain is used for a meeting, both formal and informal, even for a romantic date 🧡. In relation to different visas and residence permits it is used for an appointment to any state agency or police office, for example: You need a cita to do fingerprints for your residence card.‍
Padrón / empadronamiento - registration in your apartment. In Spain you can register even in a rented apartment. You do not need such registration for a Digital Nomad Residence, however it's better to do it.‍
Autónomo - a Spanish term for self employment. Self employed nomads submit a promise to register Autónomo once their application is approved.‍
NIE (Número de Identidad de Extranjero) - identification number of a foreigner. It is assigned once for a lifetime. You can request it separately in the police, or you will get it after application for a residence.‍
Pareja de hecho - common law marriage, that can be officially registered in Spain and is valid for all EU countries. The requirements vary from province to province, for example6 in Catalonia for two foreigners is enough to have a joint padrón for more than 3 months. This document is signed by a notary and then is certified by a local Register of Common Law marriages.‍
TIE (Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero) - you Spanish residence card, with photo and indicated NIE number. Can be used as your ID card in Spain.

The main document required when applying for an entrepreneur residence permit is a detailed business plan descibing your idea. To upload the business plan, you need to complete a form on the ENISA website. The official instructions for filling it in Spanish can be found here.

After uploading it to ENISA take a screenshot of the confirmation and attach it to the rest of the document package.

Spanish health insurance

If you're applying for a Non-Lucrative residence as a self-employed/individual entrepreneur, you don't need private Spanish health insurance.

Key requirements

The insurance is valid for one year with automatic renewal.
The insurance policy should be without additional payments (sin copago) and exclusion periods (sin carencia).
The insurance should cover all family members.
With repatriation — con repatriación
With hospitalization — con hospitalización
Coverage amount at least 30.000 €

Documents to be provided

An insurance policy that clearly states what services are included and especially emphasizes that there are no surcharges or limitations.
Payment document showing that the insurance has been paid for.
If possible, a certificate from the insurance company stating that the insurance policy has been paid.

Pay state fee and fill required forms

To pay the residence permit fee at the consulate, you must complete all fields and sign two copies of Form 790, Code 038, Section 2.1 (initial temporary residence authorization).
Payment can also be made online through the same link. In that case, you will need to present the payment confirmation generated on the website.
You will also need to pay a consular fee for the visa, which is typically around €80, but it's recommended to check the exact amount on the website of the Spanish consulate in the country of your citizenship or legal residence.

How to pay through an ATM?

👉 CaixaBank: with card of any other bank. An English option can be selected. The approximate path is: insert the card —> payments —> without bar/QR code —> A.E.T.A

👉 BBVA: with cash, the amount should approximate the value of the fee (EUR 73.26). An English option can be selected. The approximate path is: transactions without card —> payments —> bills, taxes and utilities —> with payment document —> enter data manually —> by form

The original and a photocopy of the page or pages containing biometric data are required
The passport must be valid for at least one more year and have two blank pages

Apply for a residence

In order to apply you need a digital certificate which can be received only if you have a NIE (Spanish ID number for foreigners).

✅ 1st step: Choose Alta Solicitud
‍✅ 2nd step: Authenticate with the digital certificate.
✅ 3rd step: Click Solicitud (Inicial, Renovada o Prorrogada)

✅ 4th step: Fill the form the same way as MI-T and attach all the documents

Numero de referencia: you get this number when you pay the fee. It is essential for the application. This number will appear after your payment for tasa on the receipt.

Appointment at the police station and application for a residence card

Only after you receive your visa, you will need to go to the police station to submit your fingerprints in order to obtain your physical residence card (TIE). The appointment can be booked here.

You must select the police station in the region where you are officially registered (empadronado). When booking, choose the category TRÁMITES CUERPO NACIONAL DE POLICÍA and then select the option TOMA DE HUELLA, EXPEDICIÓN DE TARJETA.

The easiest way — to pay tasa in cash in the BBVA ATM with bar code scanner. You can do it up to 11 pm

How to check if the card is ready

If you need a cita to collect the card, then you can easily check if the card is ready — just select your office and service RECOGIDA DE TARJETA. On the next page you will see the current lot with cards.

If you can collect your card without cita, you then need a bit of imagination: you can call the police office and ask for the current number, you can visit them and check, you can look for TG, WA and Twitter chats, sometimes people publish there updates of lots. "Lote №" is the number that can be found on the document that was given to you after getting your fingerprints.
